Dark Sky is the most accurate source of hyperlocal weather information. With down-to-the-minute forecasts, you’ll know exactly when the rain will start or stop, right where you’re standing. (It’s like magic.)

Featured in: New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Wired, and more.

Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week.

The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future.

Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc.), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven’t opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it.

The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what’s going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don’t even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out.

Explore weather in the past or future. Choose a date and see historical weather data or future predictions based off of seasonal averages.

Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

Bug fixes, that's about it.

(If you're the type of weirdo who gets excited by bug fix updates, and you're a fan of Dark Sky, consider rating the app! Remember: every time you rate an app, an angel gets its wings. 'Tis the season.)

What's New in Version 5.0.6
Just a boring 'ol bug fix update.
What's New in Version 5.0.5
Fixes a bug for Apple Watch that caused an erroneous "location unavailable" error.
What's New in Version 5.0.4
1) WatchOS 2.0 Support, including Dark Sky complications!

Complications show the current conditions, when rain will start or stop in the next hour, and intelligently display other weather info based on any custom alerts you have set (For example, if you've created a UV Index alert, some complications will display the UV index if it exceeds your threshold). All right on your watch face!

The future is now*!

2) Major revamp of our notification system. It's mostly behind the scenes, but if you notice any unusual behavior please let me know!

3) Minor improvements and bug fixes:

- Added precip probability to vertical timeline labels
- Set it to always reveal the next-hour graph by default (but you can still hide it by tapping it)
- Fixed a location bug that caused the incorrect address to be displayed
- Other buggy stuff you don't need to worry about

* (This statement is tautologically incorrect and in no way represents the views or opinions of The Dark Sky Company, LLC.)
What's New in Version 5.0.3
- Made map loading smarter, reducing data usage and improving load times.

- Fixed Apple Watch loading bug that would sometimes cause the display to be blank.

- Fixed bug that was occasionally causing location names to display funkily (Am I allowed to adverb "funky"? Or should it be " display in a funky manner"?).

- Lowered threshold for "Feels Like" temperature to appear.
What's New in Version 5.0.1
The Developer Walk of Shame: a bug-fix update after a major new release.

This one fixes crashing for UK users, layout issues, broken doodads, and misaligned whatsits.
What's New in Version 4.3.4
This one's a tiny little update:

1) Tweaks to the Today Widget (it now shows actual temperature rather than Feels-Like temperature, and I've removed the "Open in Dark Sky" button since everyone knows you can just tap the widget to launch the app).

2) Apple Watch bug fixes.
What's New in Version 4.3.3
- Fixes a bug where the app would repeatedly nag you to turn on Location Services. We don't need your location if you don't want to provide it. Sorry about that!

- Fixes a bug in the Apple Watch version... Yes. Yes, that's right... We're fixing a problem in a version of the app none of us can even use yet.
What's New in Version 4.3.1
- Support for Apple Watch. We've redesigned Dark Sky from scratch to fit on your wrist. (It's the year 2015, and yet we don't have flying DeLoreans or hoverboards. But you know what? We're sure as hell going to have a watch that can tell the future. So there's that.)

- Boring bug fixes.
What's New in Version 4.2.2
- Bug fixes
- Some improvements to VoiceOver support. (I'm still not 100% satisfied with it. As someone who doesn't use VoiceOver, I'm flying a bit blind here [haha, a little vision-impairment humor for you]. If you use VoiceOver and have suggestions on how to improve accessibility, I'd love to hear it. Shoot an email to:
What's New in Version 4.2.1
- For our UK users: the temperature in the widget now respects your choice of Celsius. God save the Queen!

- Various widget layout fixes. You'd think a simple line of text wouldn't have layout issues, would you? Welcome to my world, friend.

- A few other relatively minor tweaks.
What's New in Version 4.2
- iOS 8 Today Widget for a quick glance at the next hour's weather.
- Better, more detailed base maps that let you zoom all the way down to your neighborhood.
- Improved map loading that is way faster and less buggy.
- iPhone 6 optimized layout.
- Overhaul of the current condition graphics, with the addition of clearer humidity and pressure dials.
- Lots of little bug fixes and design tweaks.
- Pumped Up the Jam by at least 20%.

And with that, I'm off to take a nap. Don't forget to rate the app!

(P.S. Still no landscape mode for the iPad. Please don't hate me. I'm so so tired.)
What's New in Version 4.1.2
- Disabling Location Services will no longer cause the app to yell and curse at you.

- Fixed a problem where the app would occasionally report rain when there wasn't any (most often at night).

- Fixed an erroneous warning of notifications being disabled.

- Some minor bug fixes that, as a coder, are too embarrassing to list.
What's New in Version 4.1.1
Fixes a notification bug introduced in the previous update... which fixed a notification bug. It's like Russian dolls in here.
What's New in Version 4.0.3
Another bug-fix update:

1) Fixed a bug related to notifications failing to be sent.
2) Switched UK units to using miles rather than kilometers -- you folks over there are even weirder than us Americans when it comes to units.
3) Fixed the "all radar stations are down" problem some users reported.
4) Disabled dumb-auto-correct for location searches.
5) A number of other little things too trivial to enumerate.
Note: The release notes shown here are grabbed from time to time from the iTunes servers, so maybe there's some missing versions.
