Show History
It's our first update in a few weeks, we could claim that the build machine melted in the heat, we could claim that the office dog* ate the wireframe designs, we could claim we were just waiting for football to come home… but actually, we’ve just been busy getting new features ready to ship.

With the mad rush on fans, paddling pools, buckets o’ice for under desks we have tried to make it easier for you to find out whether a product is in stock, or where you could get it quicker.

If it's not in stock at your local store right away, you’ll see a green ‘Get it Quicker’ bar on product pages which will tell you your nearest store where you can get it immediately, which will be handy when the heatwave finally stops and we all have to buy heaters and sleeping bags for the office again.

*hint to Management can we bring dogs to work? Promise they won’t actually eat the equipment… much
What's New in Version 4.18.1
Busy week at Argos Towers. What we have been doing is putting in more Lego AR models into the apps for you guys to play with. What we have definitely not been doing is falling victim to our own Marketing and buying a boat-load of Lego… nope, didn’t happen, no Lego to see here... *quick, hide the Lego*
In fact, one of the Grads got so carried away building the Star Destroyer set during a meeting, we had to come down on him like a ton of bricks…. I’m here all week… except for Friday, Friday I have stuff to do.
What's New in Version 4.16.0
So this time we have something a bit bigger than button colour changes… not that those aren’t super important, but we do think our AR feature is a bit more interesting.

That’s right, we’ve brought AR to Argos, although we still haven’t convinced the Marketing team on the “ARgos” brand name yet, maybe because we submitted the logo design in crayon… or it sounds too piratey, not sure.

Anyhoo… so yeah, now you can place some of our sofas and armchairs in your room, move them around, take a photo and share it with family and friends and see what you think.

Next step, a VR portal into Argos of the 80s where you can shop all your old toys and games, retro gym equipment modeled by walking perms and then baffle the kids trying to explain that Netflix wasn’t on a million VHS tapes ‘back then’ - nor for that matter is Stranger Things a 'historical drama'… *sigh

*the AR feature requires a 6S or newer running iOS 11 or later
What's New in Version 4.15.0
It’s another new year and we’ve been working hard on the taxonomy of our categories... and learning new words to make it sound way more impressive than it actually is...
Basically, we’ve been grouping stuff that goes hand-in-hand together - think of it like the past couple of months, so December would have loads of cheese, wine and regret in a category. January would have dusting off the trainers, buying new gym gear and a lot lying to yourself in a group... or is that just me?!
Anyway... hopefully it’ll make it easier to shop for stuff
What's New in Version 4.14.2
Trios are back people, this is not a drill! I'm a packet of space raiders and an Um Bongo away from an 80s revival lunchbox.

In other news, we found a bug... in the app that is, not the mountain of Trios I have on my desk. It's fixed now.
-------------------
Just a point release this time around, mainly because we have loads of other great stuff we are gearing up to bring you soon... and definitely not because we are taking a team trip to the States to join the Szechuan sauce queues. Don't despair though, whilst we are there we plan to lobby Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland to drop some references to discontinued British snacks in the next season... can't wait to get Cartoonies, Ice Cream Monster Munch and Trios back. Oooh and Taz bars! You can tell me it was just a caramel Freddo but we all know it wasn't... it didn't come with an annoying analysis of the state of the British economy for a start. Beginning to feel that a British Rick and Morty could really work... "Really Vinegary Cucumber Riiiiick!!!"

Oh, but in reality and outside of caffeine-fuelled ramblings; credit where credit is due we did actually update some banners and fixed a bug that had made a feature disappear... but if you didn't notice then can anyone say for sure it really happened?
What's New in Version 4.14
After watching the latest Apple event and then spending far too much time arguing whether or not FaceID can cope with Jaqen H’ghar and Arya… or see through Clark Kent’s “incredible” glasses disguise for that matter; we figured we should probably bring you some new features.

Talking of superpowers, in an amazing (fluky) piece of foresight we have improved our login feature so that when the iPhone X drops you’ll be able to sign in to Argos with FaceID… which, of course, will be the main reason you spend a grand on it…
In the meantime, if your Argos details are saved in Keychain or LastPass they will be automagically be entered in the Argos app if you want to sign in.

Also, in a first for Argos, we have included product photos submitted by fellow customers alongside the product reviews. Hopefully, this takes away some of the mystery so you can get a real idea of the whats in the box…the box, the box!! Oh, and you also get a peek around other people’s houses, its like Through the Keyhole without having to listen to the pasta sauce guy.
What's New in Version 4.13
We have begun the first phase of our Q&A feature on the app; you can now see all the questions other customers have asked about products and the answers given by other customers or our Customer support staff. Asking a question will come in phase two... so at the moment its a bit like playing Dragon's Liar on laserdisc, interaction is minimal but still entertaining.

I doff my hat to those amazing people, especially seeing as even when I asked the urgent question “Is Doggie Doo the same as Bruno Pu Pu? I'd like to use the Pu as Doo and Doo as Pu, is this something I can do?” I still got a professional answer!

Talking of super-random products… we’ve also updated our autosuggest feature so it’ll include all the newest products to our offering. No more will you have to laboriously type all of ‘BB8 teapot’ or ‘minions fluffy slippers’ before we suggest them to you… although I may have just revealed what my other half is getting for their birthday…
What's New in Version 4.11
Been a while since I had to write one of these so just been checking my crib sheet...
'talk about what we have put in the update, throw in a random reference to a movie or cartoons, lastly ask the developers again why I can't put a gif in the release notes'
Ah... now I remember...
Right... so we have been listening to what you wanted to see on the app and we have been working on the Wishlist feature. Not content with just bringing you one Wishlist to put all your incredible choices from the Argos Cave of Wonders, you can now have as many as you like and call them whatever you want. A Wishlist for your Birthday, a Wishlist for moving house, a Wishlist for your wedding... or just one for the stuff you don't really need but are definitely going to buy come pay day.
*insert gif of Oprah - "you get a Wishlist and you get a Wishlist..."
What's New in Version 4.10.2
Just a quick update this time round...

So, we've updated the Help section and now all those useful, informative, educational... completely-uninteresting-bits-until-you-actually-need-them-bits are all in one place... helpful.

If you get really stuck, you can also now chat to one of our advisors via live text chat. They are real people, not a bunch of robots although that would be pretty awesome... hundreds and hundreds of sentient robots, that always works out ok... right?

Instead of plotting to overthrow mankind, the *actual* Argos Helpers are there to assist with your existing orders, questions on returns, info on insurance or whether Noel Fielding is the right choice for Bake Off.

Oh, and in case you needed any more reason to visit the Help section, there is a handy search function that will help you navigate to what you need. Or you can just search for the meaning of life or which are better cats or dogs... whatever takes your fancy.
What's New in Version 4.10.1
We have completed our A/B test on the homepage, after the success of A, B is now A but as there is no longer an A/B, A doesn't exist and neither does B... anyone else humming ABBA tunes yet?

Anyway... everyone now has the spanking new Homepage! Mmmmm shiny...

Disappointingly there is no further news on the casting of Thundercats the Movie... McConaughey seems to have blocked our number :/
-------------------
It's that time of year again; the gym is full of people working off all the festive wine and cheese, the Christmas tree hasn’t quite found its way to the tip yet and we all make resolutions to be more far more organised and productive.

Well we made a similar promise to ourselves… but like always procrastination got the better of us and we got distracted debating who would play who in a live-action Thundercats movie…

That important task out of the way we bring you a completely revamped Homepage that is more tailored to you. Now you can see your recently viewed items alongside your Wishlist so you don’t need to go searching next time.

We’ve also brought your popular categories on to the Homepage so its more of the stuff you actually want. Not only that we have made some recommendations of some our hottest products which you may or may not like… It's difficult to know with so many of you out there.

Oh, incase anyone is interested and skipping the rest of the update notes to find out more about Thundercats then this is what we have so far - Jason Momoa as Mumm-Ra, Hugh Jackman as Tygra, Margot Robbie as Cheetara and the frankly appalling shout of Matthew McConaughey as Lion-O…

What's New in Version 4.9
Twas the night before (ok month) before Christmas and all was a buzz,
Down the street they raced, huge in size and multi-coloured in fuzz,
Be quick or you’ll miss them going from store to door and back,
Delivering a massive choice of gifts same day to you via Argos Fast Track,

A little child waits patiently with her family next to the tree,
Hoping to unwrap a present or two… or fingers crossed thirty-three,
What they really want however, is a huggable vacuum called Hetty,
No product placement here, but not much Christmassy rhymes with Yeti...
But Dad being Dad, has left it right down to the wire,
There’s a death stare from Mum and the situation seems dire,

But inspiration hits him and he remembers the Argos App,
Just as well, otherwise Mum would have made his life… bad,
He searches for Hetty, orders with same day Fast Track,
And just like that the love in his wife’s eyes is back,
Soon, a knock at the door, “its Santa” cries Aunt Betty,
Put the sherry down love, it’s just an 8-foot Purple Yeti,

Christmas is saved, a gift better than frankincense or myrrh,
Delivered by a bobble-hatted Yeti with luminous fur,
And there’s our story wrapped up with a bow and that is that,
Apologies if it was less Clement Clark Moore and a bit Cat in the Hat,
I threw in some randomness and a tenuous rhyme or five,
Hope to Santa that in my stocking this year there isn’t a p45…
What's New in Version 4.8
We've been putting our heads together at Sainsbury's Argos to work out what amazing things we could offer now we have joined forces.
After knocking around the idea of combining powers in a Power Rangers-esque Mega-Retail-Zord (think super market with Argos arms and Habitat legs) we decided to put the Sharpies down and keep it simple...
Right it's dead easy - use the Argos app, have a good old shop, order some stuff that we'll move from a big Argos store, send it to a Saino's near you and then later you can collect your order in a small Argos that's inside a big Sainsbury's.
It's kinda like the first level of Inception... just with less Leo DiCaprio and more Capri Sun. Less Tom Hardy more Hardys wine. Less Joseph Gordon-Levitt more... more... well you get the idea.
What's New in Version 4.6.1
Me: Did we not have the Gallery view in the last release?
Team: No, ran out of time. Its back now though and you can even watch videos in landscape.
Me: Nice... *starts humming the gallery theme tune*
Team: What's that?
Me: Come on... thats the Gallery music from Take Hart
*room of blank looks*
Me: You know? Kids art show with Tony Hart?
...
Me: And Morph? The little clay dude?! Really?
...
Me: Man, you lot are too young. It was like Art Attack I guess.
Team: Think we're too young for Art Attack as well.
Me: *grabs pipe and slippers, sits quietly in the corner, mutters about how awesome 80s kids TV was.*
What's New in Version 4.6
It’s been fling-flanging boiling at Argos HQ lately. So we’re happy to bring you a breath of fresh air in the form of our re-designed product details page.

We all think it looks really cool, and hope you will be a fan and… we genuinely thought it would be easier to think of better heatwave-based puns. *hangs head in shame and sends CV to The Sun*

Also, don’t you hate it when you can’t find stuff? Your car keys, customer reviews on the Argos app, the droids you were looking for…

Well, we’ve made at least one of those easier. If you don’t trust us to tell you what products are like, just read what someone else said.

There are over 1.4 million reviews, so if you’re bored and need some toilet reading… in fact, some of the reviews of actual toilet seats are pure gold.

As an added bonus we've introduced a new feature to your Wishlist too. You can now choose to get a notification if something you like the look of drops in price.

Right, we know what you're thinking... this has spamity, spam-spam written all over it. But we promise there will be no bombarding you with stuff about products you aren’t interested in. Just the things you liked enough to put in your Wishlist.

Better still (and this is the clever bit) if your thing was already discounted, we'll only tell you if it gets even cheaper. Which is awesome for you... less good for our Finance department – but we like you a lot more.

Oh, almost forgot… you can now also remove unavailable items from your Wishlist. Twistedice81 – great suggestion… this one’s for you ;)
What's New in Version 4.5.1
Whoops, well this is very embarrassing :(

Version 4.5 seemed to have more than a few issues and wasn't playing nice at all, call it the Emo Kylo Ren of Argos app updates.

All sorted now though and we are back up and running with v4.5.1.

If you’re not sure what is going on, didn’t see anything go wrong or have no idea what we are on about then lets all agree that nothing happened and perhaps not mention it to our Boss.

——————————————————————————

Introducing… *pause for fanfare*... special offers functionality on our apps. Woohoo! Ok, admittedly you could always get offers in the app but you had to be a combination of Rainman, Will Hunting and Sherlock and have drunk all the Felix Felicis to figure out how.

Now, though, it's really simple and you can view offers, add the ones you want and move on with your life and back to Buzzfeed lists about cats.
What's New in Version 4.4.1
4.4.1 (Appy McPalmface) an update:
Well that didn't last long...who knew we were actually meant to send sales data and not spend all day on Frinkiac.com
"Oh won't somebody please think of the data!!"
----------------------------------------------------------
Marketing: Look we need something funny to call this app release, there are at least 6 people on Twitter expecting to be amused by these updates.
Apps Team: It's a trolley update, I mean we think it's a great bit of code and makes things a lot clearer for the customer but we're not sure how funny it is?
Marketing: You've started something now guys. I've bought in some professional writers and I'm serious this time no one is leaving this room until we've come up with something as current and zeitgeist as Trainy McTrainface, but better. I'll leave you all to it.
Writers: Sooooo...Appy McAppface?
App Team: Yeah sounds good. Pub?

Argos proudly brings you Appy McAppface (v4.4). Features include; a Trolley page to make life that little bit easier. Bug fixes. #poordave Easter egg and 26% more hilarity guaranteed*

*fun not guaranteed
What's New in Version 4.3.2
Marty: Wait a minute. Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?
Doc: The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style.
Marty: Is it dangerous?
Doc: Completely safe, just don’t try and use the Argos app around Easter Bank Holiday 2016
Marty: The catalogue guys? Why, what happened?
Doc: No, no, no they’re so much more now. Simple error with the code, turns out they didn’t plan for British Summer Time and it broke stuff. Fixed it pretty quick though.
Marty: Really? How did they miss that one, surely they had 6 months to figure it out?!
Doc: No idea Marty, in the future people drink too much coffee and caffeine gremlins eat their intelligence from the inside out - little known fact, but I’ve seen them Marty…I’ve seen them.
Marty: You sure the DeLorean doesn’t have a gas leak Doc?

So that got fixed and we also moved to the new version of our customer reviews platform so please update your app to continue seeing these on products.
What's New in Version 4.3
‘Five Stars’ – The Telegraph, Time Out and The Guardian
‘It feels good – better than good’ – Wired
‘Delivers the thrills with a touch of humanity’ – The New York Times

These are all amazing reviews for… well, in truth for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (how good was it by the way?!) But we do hope you’ll love our app just as much. Well, nearly as much? Aiming too high? Ok, ok we’ll settle for knowing it’s better than Phantom.

In between binge-watching Star Wars and building many-a Lego Millennium Falcon we’ve refactored our analytics (which was equally fun). So, if you have a spare moment go and check out our app and we'll wave from our swanky new analytics suite.
What's New in Version 4.2
So we got a shiny new (ish) iPhone 6s to play with….I know, I know fashionably late to the party but we brought Schnapps and Buckaroo with us so its all good. Anyway...we are happy to bring you 3D Touch on the Argos app icon to launch directly in to Search or your Wishlist.
Oh and you can now sign in to your account using Touch ID too, its not quite Blade Runner territory or Marty's Hoverboard but admit it, it kinda feels like the future when you do it.

We also smashed some bugs but less said about those the better...pesky gits, worse than Bloatfly
